This is an afternoon Jeep safari tour and duration will be around 4 hours. Regular pick up time will be 1.15 PM from a hotel in Yala. (Please inquire separately regarding airport pickup and drop off). Afternoon safari is a good option if you are visiting the park during the dry season (From December to March).
Yala is usually closed during the drought season which is from September to October, so keep that in mind when you want to make a reservation. Yala season is effective during the period from May to end of August. December to February at Yala will be most enjoyable for those who love to travel during the cold weather.
At Yala, you will not miss elephants, buffalo, crocodiles, deer etc, therefore even if you visit in the morning or evening you are bound to see many wild animals.
There are 44 mammals in this park including elephants, sloth bears, leopards being the highlight and many other species. Although it is not known as a bird watching location, Yala is home to more than 215 bird varieties that include Sri Lankan wood pigeon, bee-eaters, Sri Lankan frog-mouth and many others.
