Udawalawe National Park is located around 2 hours from the beautiful surf destinations on the south coast. The afternoon safari starts around 2 PM and the duration will be 4 hours. You will not miss the elephant herds and other wild life no matter what time you visit this park. Most people join our afternoon safaris in order to avoid the crowds in the morning.
You will be picked up around 1.15 PM by one of our safe drivers on a comfortable jeep.
Species recorded in the Park include around 90 plus plants, over twenty fish, 12 Amphibians, 33 reptiles, 184 birds, 43 mammals including 130 butterflies.
Udawalawe is also a bird watching site. Some of the breeding resident birds are Spurfowl, Malkoha, Hornbill Babbler, Jungle Fowl etc.
The Rusty spotted Cat, Fishing Cat, Leopard, Sloth bear, Sambar deer and Axis Deer are some of the animals found here.
Reptiles and fish include lizards, crocodiles, monitors, snakes etc. Pine planting, poaching, cleaning of forests are a major threats to the park.
